The Media:Jamaica Mennonite Church came into being in 1955 as a result of the efforts of mission workers. The thirteen congregations are now part of an independent conference that meets annually for business and worship sessions. The church is actively involved in elementary and special education, and has also developed a correspondence program for Bible study.
