Christina Bucher
Christina Bucher holds the Carl W. Zeigler Chair in Religious Studies at Elizabethtown College, where she offers courses in Bible and bib- lical languages. She has degrees from Elizabethtown College and Bethany Theological Seminary and completed her PhD in Hebrew Scriptures at Claremont Graduate University. Before finishing her doctorate, Bucher worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Antiquity and Christianity in Claremont, California, and later spent nine months at the Institut für ökumenische Forschung in Tübingen, Germany.
Bucher currently represents the Church of the Brethren on the editorial board of the Believers Church Bible Commentary series and is a member of the Bethany Theological Seminary board of trustees. She served the Church of the Brethren as a member of the planning team for the Covenant Bible Study program and wrote two studies for the Covenant Bible Study series. Bucher has contributed articles to Brethren Life and Thought and Messenger, and in 2010, she coedited a volume published by Brethren Press: The Witness of the Hebrew Bible for a New Testament Church. She is a member of the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren.
Bucher lives in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Theodore M. Bushong. They have two adult sons.
