The Costa Rican Mennonite Church began with the establishment of the Heredia Mennonite Church after the arrival of missionaries in the 1960’s. The first national pastor soon emerged and new church works were begun around Mexico. The convention has grown and multiplied steadily since then, and today there are twenty-three churches all around the country. Nine of these congregations are in metropolitan areas while the remaining fourteen are all located in rural zones. The Convención is a member of MWC. There are 2,500 memebers and 26 congregations.
